Geometric Identities in Lattice Theory

An Arguesian identity is an identity in Grassmann-Cayley algebras with certain multi-linear properties of expressions in joins and meets of vectors and covectors. Many classical theorems of projective geometry and their generalizations to higher dimensions can be expressed as simple and elegant Arguesian identities. In a previous work we showed that an Arguesian identity can be unfolded with re...

Partition Identities and Geometric Bijections

We present a geometric framework for a class of partition identities. We show that there exists a unique bijection proving these identities, which satisfies certain linearity conditions. In particular, we show that Corteel’s bijection enumerating partitions with nonnegative r-th differences can be obtained by our approach. Other examples and generalizations are presented.

Lattice Paths and Rogers Identities

Recently we interpreted five q-series identities of Rogers combinatorially by using partitions with “n + t copies of n” of Agarwal and Andrews [1]. In this paper we use lattice paths of Agarwal and Bressoud [2] to provide new combinatorial interpretations of the same identities. This results in five new 3-way combinatorial identities.

Geometric Theory of Lattice Vibrations and Specific Heat

We discuss, from a geometric standpoint, the specific heat of a solid. This is a classical subject in solid state physics which dates back to a pioneering work by Einstein (1907) and its refinement by Debye (1912). Using a special quantization of crystal lattices and calculating the asymptotic of the integrated density of states at the bottom of the spectrum, we obtain a rigorous derivation of ...

A Geometric Approach to Universal Quasigroup Identities

In the present paper we construct the accompanying identity ^ I of a given quasigroup identity I. After that we deduce the main result: I is isotopically invariant (i.e., for every guasigroup Q it holds that if I is satissed in Q then I is satissed in every quasigroup isotopic to Q) if and only if it is equivalent to ^
